This month marks the completion of a great project. It consisted of being able to put some of the bison herd into another quarter of land we had purchased. This project consisted of having to clear fence line, pound posts, install braces, wire and obviously hang gates. It was a very triumphant moment to see the cows and calves step hooves onto a new chunk of pasture. They seemed thrilled as well as they went trotting in and out of the wooded areas and back onto cleared right of way.
The property is basically 70% wooded with 30% being cleared fence line or hayfield. The grass flourishes among the trees and cut lines on this property. This property also borders up to the house so now we are able to look out the back deck and see them, which brings a sense of accomplishment and happiness as well. A dividing fence line is still in the works to give some better functionality as far as rotate grazing as well as separating of age or gender groups as needed down the road.
The whole process was fairly labor intensive but the purchase of a power mate air fencing stapler was well worth it. I will do a write up/review of it in another post to follow here in the near future.
Till next post cheers 🙂 GFW
